Blue whales are the most fascinating of whales in the opinion of Crocketts Cove artist Bevin Holmberg, and one of her most favorite things to paint. Did you know that the mysterious blue whale had never been documented, or even seen, as a newborn, until a research expedition found the small whale in 2008, off the coast of Costa Rica? This endangered species has kept many parts of its life in secrecy, which Bevin thinks makes it even more special. She was inspired to start painting this "baby blue" whale in celebration of this first sighting just a few years ago.
This one of a kind piece of art is the perfect house-warming gift or hostess gift or will help you complete the decor of a favorite room in your home. Perfect to hang in your bedroom, front hall, living room or kitchen, the stunning blue whale will remind anyone of the coast and the sea, and the grand mammals that inhabit it.
"Baby Blue" is hand-painted designed art that has been lovingly created by Falmouth, Maine artist Bevin Holmberg in bright royal blue acrylic paint. Bevin carefully selects recycled barn wood and this painting is no different - carefully rendered on a rustic, weathered board of an old Maine barn. Small knots and marks in the wood contribute to this rustic, country look and add character to any home.
The dimensions of the piece are 24" x 1" x 8", and it comes complete with hanging hardware on the back.
